California Amplifier to Supply End-User Customer Premise Equipment
CAMARILLO, California and RICHARDSON, Texas - December 5, 2001 - Navini
Networks, Inc., the leading provider of zero-installÔ wireless broadband technology
and California Amplifier, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAMP), a worldwide provider of integrated
microwave solutions for satellite and terrestrial broadband communications,
today announced that California Amplifier has licensed Navini's technology to
develop and manufacture customer premise equipment (CPEs) for the broadband
wireless market.
The license agreement allows California Amplifier to manufacture Navini-designed
CPEs and to develop custom CPE solutions interoperable with Navini base station
equipment. California Amplifier's custom solutions will integrate its high performance
radio frequency (RF) and antenna technology and additional functionality, such
as routing and voice capability, to address the residential, home office and
small enterprise markets. The company will supply CPE products containing Navini
technology directly to service providers.
"For over a decade, California Amplifier has developed broadband wireless access
products and we recognize the capabilities of Navini's non-line-of-sight, zero-install,
nomadic broadband technology," said Fred Sturm, president and chief executive
officer, California Amplifier. "California Amplifier's CPE design expertise
and our volume manufacturing capabilities will now be applied to help deliver
cost-effective products to service providers, incorporating Navini's wireless
broadband access technology."
"We're continually seeking relationships with key industry players to assist
us in the deployment of our licensing and reselling programs," said Alastair
Westgarth, chief executive officer, Navini Networks. "Through our partnerships
with world-class organizations such as California Amplifier, we will be able
to deliver superior price and performance solutions to the wireless broadband
marketplace."
Navini is partnering with companies in the broadband wireless access market
to deliver its non-line-of-sight, zero-install, nomadic wireless broadband technology
to a larger number of carriers to create the best ROI in the industry. Additionally,
Navini is expanding the company's distribution with the addition of licensing
and reselling programs enabling companies, like California Amplifier, to manufacture
and sell Navini's products and develop new products based on Navini's technology.
These initiatives will enable the creation of multiple CPE form factors that
address the residential, small office/home office (SOHO) and small/medium enterprise
(SME) markets.
