California Amplifier Introduces PCS Repeater to Enhance Residential Coverage

07/15/03

Company Leverages RF Design Expertise to Enter PCS Equipment Market

CAMARILLO, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- California Amplifier, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAMP) announced today that it has developed a small, cost- effective signal repeater, called Ecco(TM), that augments in-building PCS coverage. By employing various patent pending technologies, California Amplifier has designed a simple-to-use device suited for consumer deployment in a residence, small office or other in-building application.

"There is a growing need today for an affordable solution to address the problem of inadequate in-building wireless coverage," said Fred Sturm, Chief Executive Officer. "It is not unusual to encounter trouble spots within a building where PCS signals are weak or inconsistent. By creating a robust and reliable signal, Ecco enhances voice service availability and boosts 3G data speeds in homes and businesses. We expect this product will benefit PCS system operators by increasing overall customer satisfaction and retention."

Mr. Sturm continued, "Ecco is currently being evaluated by a major wireless service provider and we are encouraged by the results. We have received a small initial order and anticipate interest from other PCS service providers. I am very pleased with our progress in diversifying the Company by extending our RF design capabilities to address a new market with an original and innovative product solution."

Ecco is a powerful and sophisticated PCS signal repeater with advanced software that adjusts various performance parameters based on the ever- changing surrounding RF environment. This eliminates the need for test equipment or RF knowledge, thereby allowing simple consumer installation. Ecco's compact form factor is aesthetically designed to blend into any home or office decor.
