OXNARD, Calif. & BRADENTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20,
2006--CalAmp Corp. (Nasdaq:CAMP), a leading provider of wireless
products and engineering services, and GE Security, Inc., a
wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of the General Electric Company
(NYSE:GE), today announced that CalAmp will provide a key system
component for GE Security's new mobile resources management service,
NavLogix(TM). CalAmp's product shipments are expected to commence this
month in support of GE Security's roll-out of its fleet tracking
service to medium and large-sized enterprises.
As part of the agreement, CalAmp will provide GE Security with its
GPS-based Location Messaging Unit, the LMU-4000. The LMU-4000 features
leading-edge technology in an affordable location device, with the
configurability and flexibility to adapt to changing customer
requirements. CalAmp's LMU-4000 enables NavLogix to meet a wide range
of fleet requirements including vehicle tracking, advanced
input/output controls, and integration with on-board equipment.
"We are pleased to have been selected to supply our award winning
LMU-4000 as GE Security commercializes its new fleet tracking
service," said Fred Sturm, President and Chief Executive Officer of
CalAmp. "Businesses with fleets of vehicles have become increasingly
focused on optimizing the productivity of their assets in the field.
CalAmp's mobile resource management products help enable vehicle
tracking services such as GE's NavLogix. This is a market that we
believe has significant growth potential as enterprise customers look
to more efficiently manage their mobile workforce. We look forward to
a long and mutually beneficial relationship with GE Security."
"CalAmp is an important partner as GE Security rolls out its new
mobile resources management service," said David Nark, Program Leader
for the NavLogix offering with GE Security. "Flexibility, reliability,
and maintainability were key drivers in our decision to use the
LMU-4000. Other tracking units tested didn't match the LMU's
dependability and configurability. We have confidence in the device
because the LMU is installed in over 1,000 GE vehicles."
