CalAmp's Dataradio Unit Signs Contract to Replace Onondaga County, New York Mobile Data Network; Countywide Network to Provide Mobile Data Communications for Fire, Police and EMS Personnel


OXNARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2006--CalAmp Corp. (Nasdaq:CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products and engineering services, today announced that its operating unit, Dataradio Inc., has signed a contract with New York's Onondaga County to replace the County's existing mobile data network used by first responders. The contract is valued at approximately $3.8 million and will provide mobile data to the City of Syracuse, NY and all areas within Onondaga County. Work on the project is expected to begin in mid-August with system acceptance scheduled for April 2007.

The new Dataradio G3 800 MHz IP platform operates at 48 Kbps, and can be upgraded to higher speeds in the future. The system will initially support approximately 800 first responders and is provisioned for expansion in the future.
